EPE foam offers excellent cushioning, water resistance, and thermal insulation with a closed-cell structure. It is lightweight, non-toxic, and recyclable, overcoming traditional foam's fragility and pollution issues. However, it has poor heat resistance, limited mechanical strength, flammability, and low weather resistance. Its bulky volume increases logistics costs, and it is pricier than EPS, reducing cost-effectiveness in non-eco-critical applications.

EPE is widely used across packaging, construction, automotive, cold-chain, sports, and consumer goods. Its customizable density, lamination, anti-static, and flame-retardant properties make it a versatile, safe, and sustainable material with broad functional adaptability.

EPE is unsuitable for high-temperature (>75°C), long-distance international transport, high-impact, or high-resilience applications, as well as precision rigid support and long-term outdoor use. It also faces restrictions in stringent EU markets. Material selection should therefore be based on specific operating conditions and requirements.
