In today’s world, where global supply chains are becoming increasingly complex and the ‘dual carbon’ targets are firmly entrenched in public consciousness, logistics and transport are no longer merely a process of moving goods from one place to another, but rather a dual test of product safety and environmental responsibility. From the factory production line to final delivery, goods must endure the long, bumpy journey of sea transport, the drastic changes in air pressure during air transport, and the frequent starts and stops of road transport. Throughout this process, packaging serves as the product’s first line of defence; its performance not only directly determines the integrity of the goods and customer satisfaction, but also embodies the company’s solemn commitment to the Earth’s ecosystem.

Indeed, your primary concern is not merely the cost or transit time of transport, but whether your goods will arrive in perfect condition after enduring all manner of hardships, and whether the entire logistics process complies with increasingly stringent global environmental regulations and ESG standards. This article therefore aims to explain in detail how our packaging solutions provide exceptional stability across the three distinct transport environments of sea, air and land freight, whilst utilising an innovative system of eco-friendly materials to build a supply chain protection system that is both safe and reliable, as well as green and low-carbon.

1. Cornerstone: A new generation of eco-friendly materials that ensure safety and sustainability go hand in hand

Before discussing the protective performance in specific transport scenarios, we must first emphasise the material foundation that underpins it all. Traditional packaging often forces a choice between strength and environmental friendliness, but through years of dedicated research and development, we have successfully resolved this dilemma. Our entire range of packaging containers utilises the following innovative, environmentally friendly material solutions:

Applications of High-Performance Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) Polymers

The main body of our containers is largely made from GRS-certified post-consumer recycled plastic, sourced primarily from recovered marine plastic waste and end-of-life industrial pallets. Through advanced molecular chain repair and toughening technologies, we have ensured that the impact strength and fatigue resistance of the recycled material match or even exceed those of virgin material. This means that every container put into use reduces crude oil consumption whilst preventing secondary environmental pollution caused by plastic waste. Currently, the recycled content of our standard range of containers stands at 40–60 per cent, and we plan to increase this to over 80 per cent within the next three years.

Bio-based and Biodegradable Composites

For ancillary materials such as disposable liners, cushioning fillers and labels, we have completely phased out traditional EPS foam and non-biodegradable plastics, switching instead to bio-based materials such as PLA, PBAT and moulded bamboo fibre/sugarcane bagasse. These materials are derived from renewable plant resources and, under specific composting conditions, can fully degrade into water, carbon dioxide and organic matter within 180 days, truly embodying the principle of ‘from nature, back to nature’. Even in conventional landfill conditions, their carbon footprint is reduced by more than 60 per cent compared to traditional petroleum-based materials.

Non-toxic, Harmless and Circular Economy Design

All container materials strictly comply with the EU 10/2011 food contact standard, RoHS 2.0 and the REACH SVHC list requirements. They are free from harmful substances such as BPA, phthalates and halogenated flame retardants, ensuring that customs clearance is not hindered by environmental compliance issues during cross-border transport. More importantly, we adopt a single-material design philosophy to avoid the challenges of recycling and separation associated with multi-layer composite structures. Once the containers reach the end of their service life, they can be 100 per cent recycled within existing plastic recycling systems to produce recycled pellets, creating a true closed-loop cycle rather than being subject to downgraded use or incineration.

Low-carbon living and life-cycle assessment

Our production facilities are now powered entirely by green electricity, and we have reduced energy consumption per unit by 25 per cent through optimisation of our injection moulding processes. Before any new product is launched, we conduct a full life-cycle assessment to quantify carbon emissions at every stage—from raw material sourcing, through manufacturing and transport, to end-of-life recycling—and provide our clients with transparent carbon footprint reports. This helps your organisation accurately calculate Scope 3 emissions and comply with international regulatory requirements such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) climate disclosure standards.

2. Maritime transport scenarios: Green solutions to combat high humidity, salt spray and the stresses of long-term stacking

Maritime transport is the lifeblood of international trade and also the most demanding test for packaging containers. In this context, our eco-friendly containers demonstrate overall performance that is on a par with—or even superior to—that of traditional heavy-duty packaging.

Unrivalled compressive strength and stacking stability of recycled materials

Thanks to the reinforcement and modification of the PCR material, our recycled containers feature a self-locking stacking structure—comprising anti-slip texturing on the base and reinforcing ribs on the top—which effectively prevents them from slipping or toppling over when the vessel rolls, even when fully loaded. Third-party testing has shown that containers containing 50 per cent recycled material can still withstand a static stacking load of over 1 metric tonne, fully meeting heavy-load requirements and proving that environmental friendliness does not mean sacrificing strength.

All-weather protection for bio-based seals

To address the high-salt-fog environment at sea, we have developed a bio-based TPU seal to replace traditional petroleum-based rubber, which achieves the same IP67 protection rating and effectively blocks out moisture and corrosive agents. Should this material be accidentally lost in the marine environment, its degradation rate is significantly higher than that of traditional plastics, thereby substantially reducing the potential threat to the marine ecosystem.

The dual emissions-reduction benefits of lightweighting

The lower density of eco-friendly materials, combined with structural optimisation, has reduced the unit weight of shipping containers by 15–20 per cent. This not only reduces a vessel’s fuel consumption and carbon emissions, but also minimises inertial impacts during lifting operations due to the reduced weight, thereby indirectly enhancing product safety.

3. Air freight scenarios: Adapting to sudden changes in air pressure, weight reduction requirements and security compliance

Air freight imposes extremely stringent requirements in terms of weight and environmental adaptability, and this is precisely where our eco-friendly materials really come into their own.

The ultra-lightweight and high-strength properties of bio-based composites

Our specialised air freight containers are made from carbon fibre-reinforced bio-based resin, which is 30 per cent lighter than traditional ABS/PC alloys whilst maintaining the same drop resistance. This enables savings of several hundred kilograms in payload per flight, significantly reducing jet fuel consumption and carbon emissions, thereby achieving a win-win situation in terms of both economic and environmental benefits.

Environmentally Friendly Pneumatic Balanced Breathing Valve

The diaphragm in the breathing valve is made from medical-grade silicone rather than fluorinated polymers, ensuring millisecond-level pressure response and waterproof, breathable performance whilst avoiding the risk of environmental accumulation of PFAS. The valve assembly can be removed and replaced individually, extending the overall service life of the container and reducing waste generation.

All materials are security-friendly and fully compliant

All eco-friendly materials are free from metallic impurities and prohibited chemicals, ensuring clear X-ray imaging and eliminating the need for physical inspection. Furthermore, the materials comply with IATA DGR regulations for the transport of dangerous goods and the latest plastic restriction regulations in various countries, thereby avoiding the risk of transport disruptions caused by changes to environmental legislation.

4. Road transport scenarios: Resilient protection against high-frequency vibrations, thermal shock and rough handling during loading and unloading

The road transport environment is complex and ever-changing, placing higher demands on the durability and environmental adaptability of packaging; our eco-friendly containers rise to the challenge with their flexibility.

Vibration resistance of recycled materials across a wide temperature range

Following a special toughening treatment, PCR material retains excellent elasticity within the temperature range of –40 °C to 85 °C; when combined with a bio-based EVA lining, it forms a highly effective vibration-isolation system. Test results show that its vibration damping rate for frequencies between 6 Hz and 200 Hz is comparable to that of traditional petroleum-based materials, ensuring that precision products remain undamaged during long-distance transport over rough terrain; furthermore, the material itself does not release harmful volatile substances under extreme temperatures.

Enhanced weather resistance and UV resistance

The addition of natural mineral-based UV stabilisers in place of traditional chemical additives prevents the containers from becoming brittle or cracking when exposed to prolonged sunlight and rain, extending their service life by more than 30 per cent. This not only reduces the frequency of replacement and resource consumption, but also prevents microplastic particles from becoming detached and causing pollution during transport.

Ergonomics and Sustainable Design

Both the handles and the impact-resistant corner protectors are coated with a flexible, bio-based TPE, which enhances comfort during handling whilst ensuring that the material itself can be recycled alongside the main body of the container. Laser-etched markings on the container’s surface replace ink printing, eliminating pollution from solvent vapours; furthermore, these markings are wear-resistant, ensuring traceability and sorting efficiency throughout the product’s entire life cycle.

5. Green, seamless intermodal transport connections

Our eco-friendly packaging containers feature a standardised modular design, enabling seamless transfer between sea, air and land transport modes without the need to transfer goods between containers or repackage them, thereby fundamentally reducing packaging waste and the risk of cargo damage during transhipment. The integrated RFID/NFC smart tags utilise recyclable antennas and passive chips, ensuring they last for the entire lifespan of the container; when the container is decommissioned, the tags can be recycled in their entirety, leaving no electronic waste behind.

More importantly, we provide each client with a dedicated green logistics dashboard that tracks, in real time, the carbon emissions reductions achieved by each packaging unit, the proportion of recycled materials used and the number of times the packaging has been recycled. This data can be used directly in your company’s sustainability reports, carbon tax declarations and green supply chain ratings, transforming packaging from a cost centre into an asset that adds value to your brand.
